RdV Vineyards Rendezvous/2019

Blend

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot

Geographical Attributes

Virginia is an east-coast state of the USA, located immediately south of Maryland and north of the Carolinas. The state covers 42,750 square miles (110, 750 square km) of mountains, valleys, and the complex Atlantic coastline which forms its eastern boundary. From the Cumberland and Blue Ridge mountains in the west to the creeks and coastal estuaries of the east, Virginia's topography and geology are varied to say the least. The landscape around Chesapeake Bay – a vast coastal inlet which separates the main state from its Eastern Shore – could hardly be more different from that below the 5730ft (1750m) Mt Rogers, 300 miles (480km) to the west.

Vintner Notes

Rendezvous is born from a spirit of community, friendship, and gathering. From the very beginning, it was conceived as the definitive wine for all occasions. Its expressive qualities, roundness and generosity make it hedonistic, for consuming along with abundant food and conversation. A blend of Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, Rendezvous is another world-class expression of our terroir, produced with an uncompromising devotion to craft. This is an exceptional wine to enjoy time and again, without reservation.

Ratings

Wine Enthusiast 91.Bold aromas of black plum, licorice and chocolate mark the nose, with accents of turmeric and dried herb adding interest. This medium- to full-bodied Bordeaux-style red blend is confident and muscular, bearing toasty and chocolaty flavors. The finish is warm, structured and enduring.
