We're thrilled to announce that our dear friend and Mezcal Master, River Hawkins, will be back at the Wine Lab for his signature Mezcal education event!

River is the owner of The Bebedero, Virginia’s only mezcaleria, which boasts the largest selection of mezcal and tequila in the state, and he will be joining us for an educational mezcal tasting class. 

River has been educating people on the rich history and complex flavor of agave distillates for over eight years now, both in Mexico and the US. He’s given hundreds of tasting classes through his restaurant and other private events. His love of all things agave is obvious in his passionate work to bring these rare spirits to the people of Virginia.

Join us for a one time only tasting event on Sunday November 19th at 2PM featuring a handpicked selection of River’s favorite tequilas and mezcal (around 11 styles), along with a variety of delicious mezcal-paired snacks. 

As we taste, River will guide us through the fascinating history, cultural relevance and unique processes of agave distillates. By the time we’re finished River promises we’ll have a whole new appreciation tequila and mezcal. It’s the perfect combination of education and intoxication.
